What "billing a car" involves

A car bill of sale or car bill is not one line on a generic invoice template. To be usable at the RTO, by the insurer and in a GST audit, it must carry the vehicle's identity: registration number, make and model, year, colour, odometer reading, and the chassis and engine numbers exactly as on the RC, plus buyer details, the price in figures and words, and signatures. The full field list is in our car bill format guide.

And the bill never travels alone. A complete car sale also needs the sale letter, the delivery note, and Form 29 and Form 30 for the ownership transfer, all carrying the same details, to the digit.

GST or non-GST?

Getting this wrong, charging GST on the full value, or skipping GST when registered, is the most expensive car-billing mistake in India.

How to bill a car online with Bill My Car

  1. Sign in at billmycar.in with your Google account; add your dealership profile once (name, address, GSTIN or PAN, logo).
  2. Enter the deal: buyer name and address, vehicle registration, chassis and engine numbers, price. One form, once.
  3. Pick GST or non-GST; the math, the HSN code and the invoice numbering are handled for you.
  4. Download the set: the car bill plus the sale letter, delivery note and every RTO form generate together as print-ready PDFs, and everything saves automatically to your own Google Drive.
  5. Share it: send the PDF to the customer on WhatsApp in one tap, or print for signatures.

That is the difference between a car bill generator and a generic invoice tool: the generator knows what a car sale legally needs. The comparison in detail: Bill My Car vs generic billing software.

Frequently asked questions

How do I bill my car online in India?

Use a car billing tool like Bill My Car (billmycar.in): sign in with Google, enter the buyer and vehicle details once, choose GST or non-GST, and download the print-ready car bill as a PDF. The same entry also generates the sale letter, delivery note and RTO Form 29 and 30, so the whole sale is billed and documented in about two minutes.

What is Bill My Car?

Bill My Car is an Indian web app for car dealerships (used, pre-owned and new) that generates car bills, GST and non-GST invoices, sale letters, delivery notes and every RTO ownership-transfer form from one sale entry. It also manages vehicle stock and buyer leads, and saves every PDF to the dealer's own Google Drive with no storage limit.

Do I need GST to bill a car?

Only if you are a GST-registered dealer, and then GST applies at 18% on your margin (sale price minus purchase price) under Rule 32(5) of the CGST Rules, not the full car value. Private sellers and unregistered dealers issue a non-GST car bill with no tax lines. Bill My Car produces both formats correctly.

Is billing a car online legally valid?

Yes. A digitally generated, printed and signed car bill is as valid as a handwritten one, and typically more reliable because the chassis and engine numbers match across the invoice, sale letter and RTO forms. The signatures still go on paper in ink.

Can I bill a car from my phone?

Yes. Bill My Car runs in the mobile browser: enter the deal from the showroom floor, download the PDFs, and share the bill with the customer on WhatsApp in one tap.
